PROBLEM
Achieve the product goal of making one billion users healthier by 2020.

GOAL
Drive engagement by delivering personalized, action-oriented guidance that supports users in achieving their well-being goals—offered at the right moment and through the most effective coaching styles.

MY ROLE
Steered a stalled project to success by leading the team through ambiguity, establishing a clear health data logic framework, energizing team members, and driving seamless collaboration with a remote development team—resulting in a timely and impactful feature launch.
1. Identify Opportunities
Led the team in ideating content for Samsung Health’s three core pillars—Be More Active, Feel More Rested, and Eat Healthier—and crafted a strategic framework to elevate the pitch to HQ stakeholders.

2. Intelligent System
Created an insight logic framework based on user health data, correlating it with mobile data, including location, weather, and time zone shifts.

3. Design Explorations
Defined how the Actionable Insights feature fits into the overall Samsung Health user flow and partnered with a visual designer and a design technologist to create various insight cards with personalized content based on potential data points and user behaviors.

4. Validated & Launched
Partnered with UX researcher to test concepts with 8 users, refining usability, content card hierarchy, and coaching tone. Built strong collaboration with HQ dev teams to align on content priorities. Launched Actional Insights with Samsung S8 as a key Samsung Health enhancement.

5. Impact Beyond
The project was handed off to the Samsung Health core design team at HQ after the initial launch. An experience guideline and future expansion strategy were crafted to further develop the intelligent system and meaningful content. This outcome marked a pivotal moment for our lab, enabling its evolution from a concept-focused team into a full-stack product team.
